Question: When I uploaded my manuscript to InsertNameofEbookPublisher.com, my manuscript lost all of its scene breaks. How did this happen?
Answer: When doing scene breaks, many authors will just insert a blank line (empty paragraph return) or two between scenes. This works well for print reproduction, but e-book formatting poses a special problem. Some e-book publishers have their conversion software set up to eliminate all empty paragraph returns (or blank lines) between paragraphs.
In order to insure that you preserve your scene breaks, it's best to always use a separator such as three asterisks (***).
